About Me and my blog
I have two names. 1) Adrienne, 2) Nicole. Choose whichever you prefer to address me. I am currently 21 years old and studying English Literature in the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez (aka Colegio). Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I love my country and its cuisine (can't spend too much time without eating some mofongo, rice, beans, biftec encebolla'o, avocado, and so forth!), but also enjoy meals inspired by various other cultures.
Jesus is central to my life and goals. I am passionate about sharing the Good News of what He did for all of us, which is why I hope to be an ESL teacher one day and combine it with missionary work. The poor hold a special place in my heart and I firmly believe that even if I can't change the world by myself, I can definitely help a part of it.
When I'm not in Mayaguez, I live in the lovely town of Isabela with my mom (Vivian), dad (José or "Pepe"), and little brother (José Gabriel). A fluffy white cat (Motita) and three affectionate dogs (Hershey, Cinnamon, and Ginger) also form a part of our family. Fortunately, the humans in the family are all foodies. We love having people over for dinner at my house and visiting a good restaurant every now and then.
Oddly, I didn't learn to cook at home. Mom tried to teach me when I was in high school, but in those times I would rather be a couch potato and watch TV. However, when I started studying in Mayagüez I found myself craving good homemade meals, but not having Mom around to cook for me, so I was forced to learn. I learned how to cook through following recipes and having Mom on the phone giving me instructions. Slowly but surely, I progressed and although I am nowhere near a professional, I can cook pretty darn good!
This blog will feature original recipes, adaptations, and some of my favorite recipes from other bloggers or cookbooks. It will also have a "Random" section with posts about anything that tickles my fancy. Thank you for visiting my blog! I hope you have a yumtastic experience because of it. Feel free to e-mail me recipe suggestions, questions, or comments at [email protected]. Peace out.
